Dermal fillers are designed to act identically to your own natural hyaluronic acid. Depleted hyaluronic acid can occur as a result of ageing or genetics ,causing lines and wrinkles, loss of volume, looking sunken or hollow and lacking in smooth, plump, hydrated skin. Whether you want restoration of lost volume or to hydrate and smooth lines and wrinkles, facial fillers provide semi-permanent , non-surgical, safe and natural looking results.
At skin emporium our approach to facial fillers is, as always , a bespoke personalised service. During a thorough consultation our medical director will discuss your medical history and lifestyle and craft a treatment plan based on your individual desired outcome.
As safety is our highest priority, You will only ever be injected by medical professionals fully qualified and experienced specialists, that not only have strong anatomical knowledge but have also undergone extensive aesthetic training meeting our rigorous standards of both technical excellence and visual artistry. It’s important to us that you feel safe and comfortable throughout your treatment as well as delighted by the results our passionate experts have created for you.

What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are a popular non-surgical injectable treatment, used to replace lost facial volume due to the ageing process and provide definition, contour, and balance to facial features.
What are dermal fillers made from?
Dermal fillers have a gel consistency made of stabilised, non-animal hyaluronic acid which closely resembles the hyaluronic acid that exists naturally in the body.
What can Dermal Fillers be used for?
Dermal fillers can be used to rejuvenate multiple facial areas, including;
Mid face (cheeks)
Under eye hollows (tear troughs)
Chins
Jawlines
Nasolabial folds (nose to mouth lines)
Marionettes lines
Lip lines
Lip shape and volume
Who are dermal fillers suitable for?
Dermal fillers are suitable for anyone who wants to treat signs of ageing such as volume loss, which is commonly seen in the mid face and under eyes (tear troughs) and early jowling along the jawline and around the mouth. Dermal fillers are also used to balance and enhance facial features including adding definition to chins, cheekbones, jawlines, and lips if required. Dermal fillers are a very versatile injectable treatment, able to be tailored to each individual’s needs.
Who is not suitable for dermal fillers?
As they are made from hyaluronic acid, Dermal fillers are suitable for most people. Individuals with active autoimmune disorders such as Lupus would not be suitable for dermal fillers, neither would anyone who is currently pregnant. If you have never had a dermal filler treatment before we strongly advise booking a consultation first to assess your suitability for treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are supplied in sterile pre-filled syringes in a volume of 1ml per syringe. 1ml is a very small amount of hyaluronic acid, especially when volume replacement is required for facial areas such as the mid face, chin, and jawline. Most people who have not have filler before and are looking to treat signs of ageing often require anywhere between 3-10mls of filler as a baseline treatment. Smaller volumes of filler such as 1ml are used to treat areas such as the under eyes (tear trough) and lips. Exact amounts required will depend on the aesthetic outcome you are wanting to achieve and the level of volume loss or ageing you currently have. We would recommend a consultation so that all these factors can be discussed prior to your treatment. For those wanting to treat multiple facial areas or achieve facial balancing, we offer great value bespoke packages to help you achieve your goals.
How long do results of dermal fillers last?
Results are not permanent. Depending on the volume injected and area treated you can expect your results to last 6-12 months. Dermal fillers are broken down (metabolised) slowly by the body over time.
Are dermal filler treatments painful?
Prior to your treatment a topical numbing cream will be applied to the skin to make the treatment more comfortable. You can expect to feel some mild-moderate discomfort depending on the area being treated, but most patients report that the treatment is very tolerable.
Are dermal fillers safe?
All elective injectable treatments carry a small risk of adverse reactions and complications. Most of these are mild and temporary such as bruising and swelling. Serious complications such as allergic reactions and vascular occlusions are extremely rare. As a medically led clinic, safety is our number one priority which is why our injectors have years of experience delivering dermal filler treatments and are trained and experienced in how to treat and manage a complication if one were to occur.
Can dermal filler treatments be reversed?
Yes. Because the dermal fillers we use are made from hyaluronic acid they are able to be fully dissolved using a substance called hyaluronidase.
Will my face look worse after the fillers have worn off?
No. Once your body has broken down the fillers your face will return to its baseline and will often look better than before the treatment as the body retains small amounts of the hyaluronic acid. Dermal fillers will improve the visible signs of ageing but will not prevent your face from ageing so as your face continues to age with time, you will need to maintain your treatments to continue to enjoy the benefits.
Are results Instant?
You will see immediate results, but the full results can be seen in 2-4 weeks once the filler has fully settled.
Is there any downtime?
You can return to your usual activities immediately after the treatment; however, we advise avoiding strenuous sweaty exercise such as running, and yoga for 24 hours post treatment. There may be some tenderness, mild swelling, and potentially mild bruising after the treatment, so we also recommend scheduling your treatment 2 weeks before any important events for added peace of mind.
What can I expect after the treatment? Is there any aftercare?
You can expect to feel a little bit sore and tender for a few days post treatment and the filler can feel hard to touch until it has fully settled. It is safe to take paracetamol or ibuprofen after the treatment should you need to, but most people experience minimal discomfort and return to their daily activities straight away.
Your medical injector will discuss all the pre and post care with you during your initial consultation in clinic. You will also be emailed a copy of the aftercare instructions with out of hours contacts should you require any help or support after your treatment. We offer exceptional aftercare and are always on hand if you have any questions post treatment.
